Data Included in BECS

Your Data

The first set of data will be collected by completing an online questionnaire. This information will include

  • Details of your medical history
  • Your family history
  • Information about your breast cancer risk factors

Any personally identifiable information, e.g. full name, postcode, ethnicity, will be pseudoanonymised before the data is made available to scientists. In other words, you won't be able to be identified from your answers.

The exception to this is if you develop breast cancer in the future. In this case, your NHS number would trigger an alert on the National Cancer Registry system, which would mean the research team would be aware of the diagnosis. However, this alert would only relate to your anonymised data. The team will not know that you as an individual have cancer.

You can request the full list of information being used in this project from the research team on becs@milk-research.com.
